Learning about new and developing uses for stem cells will continue to hold my intrest for the next several months. There's a lot happening with stem cells and a lot i can learn about. I don't know much about stem cells so I will constantly be learning, which will hold my intrest longer than if I already knew a lot about them. I hope to go to medical school after college and I'm very interested in medicines and new medical research as well as how that works. Learning about stem cells and how they're currently affecting the medical world is going to enable me to have a basis for something I'll already be familiar with when starting med school. Also researching stem cells gives me an idea as to whether or not medical research would be a field that I would enjoy working in.
Stem cells are a very current topic. There is controversy with religion and science pertaining to embryonic stem cells as to whether or not it is ethical to be using embryonic stem cells. Another example is something that happened very recently, doctors were able to create eyes for someone out of teeth. With something this profound a lot more is expected to develope over the next few months. There is continuous growth in stem cell research that will be consistantly revealed over the course of the next several months which makes stem cells a very current topic.

There's a few different ways that I'm going to be getting research about stem cells. The easiest source of information will be in internet. There are science news websites and one of the most informative being http://sciencedaily.com. Another way that I'm hoping to get information, although it's going to be more challenging, is through e-mail or an interview. My cousin is a medical researcher and if I'm able to get a hold of him it would be really neat to hear from someone who's behind the scenes of stem cell research.
Stem cells are an up and coming developement in the medical world. The practices are starting to break through and are currently being used as an expirimental drug on those who chose to use it. Over time it will be interesting to see what new countries adopt the idea of using this to help patients and begin expirimenting with them. Doctors are also finding new ways to use stem cells. Stem cells will continue to be researched in the medical world which will continuously provide me with new information.
Learning about stem cells as well as keeping up with the news about them will be very challenging. In order to fully understand how the new developements that research is making I will need to have a lot of backround information about them as well as previous discoveries so that I'll be able to piece together what each discovery means. I'll also have to learn the medical terminology that is used through out the explinations of new discoveries so that I'll be able to keep up with what the discoveries are. The most challenging part of this topic is going to be being able to understand what the articles even mean.
