response: stem cells treating MS 2

The article was helpful as to learning about other stem cell therapies. This article exemplified another way to receive stem cell treatment. Roehlig had to travel all the way to Istanbul to receive his treatment though. Why can't we have stem cell therapy right here in the US? He isn't seeing any lasting side affects to the treatment that aren't positive. Although it's not in my notes, Roehlig also mentioned being able to walk better. His cramps in his back and legs were also relieved, as well as the tightness in the muscles of his back. Why should someone from Canada suffering from MS have to travel so far just to receive treatment? Traveling is going to cost hundreds of dollars extra to I'm sure, the already hefty price of the stem cell therapy. After reading this article I'm interested in finding articles about why the treatment is not available in the US. In the future I hope to read a few articles explaining the updates on the availability of stem cell therapy, I think this will be an interesting aspect to track.

notes: stem cells treating MS 2

Arndt Roehlig is yet another person suffering from MS (Multiple Sclerosis) to look into stem cell therapy to relieve his symptoms.

MS is a debilitating disease that attacks the nervous system and eventually leaves it's victims wheel chair bound.

Arndt Roehlig suffering from MS was injected with his own adult stem cells and has seen a significant improvement in his life.

Another MS victim, Zylstra, was also helped by her own adult stem cells.

The stem cells were taken out of Roehlig's bone marrow, and after the site where they were taken from healed, he didn't have any side affects.

The stem cells taken from the marrow where grown for 2 and a half months before Roehlig was able to be injected.

The procedure took place in Istanbul, because it's not legalized in many areas yet.

The procedure took only about 15 minutes for him to be reinjected.

Roehlig's personal side affects from the injection were about 3 days of nausea, headaches and vommiting.

Roehligs "pressure" from his MS "almost like a massive weight off my shoulders"

Cramps caused by his MS were completely gone for a while, came back, but are very dull in comparison to before. his back which used to be tight and knotted is now soft and normal.
